Bio

John's professional career began while still a student a Hollywood High School.  His first paying gig ($4 a performance) was as a supernumerary (extra) for the world renowned Old Vic Company from England.  They were playing Romeo And Juliet at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles and he was seen pretending to play a recorder that was taped and played back over the sound system.  He was onstage a full 30 seconds all by himself before the stars, Barbara Jefford, John Stride and Edward Atienza insisted on getting on with the play.

That was almost 40 years ago and he's still at it.  His love of theatre and it's literature has been the central focus of his life. While young he played Claude, one of the two leads in the tribal love rock musical Hair for producer Michael Butler.  Los Angeles, Broadway and the national tour kept him busy for nearly two years before he moved on.  He's played in theatres across the country in roles as diverse as Sky Masterson in Guy's and Doll's, Petruchio in Taming of the Shrew, Doc Delaney in Come Back Little Sheba, Macheath in Threepenny Opera, George in Same Time Next Year, Ben Stark in Rocket to the Moon, Laertes in Hamlet, Doc Porter in Crimes of the Heart and the list goes on to include over 40 productions.  In addition he has participated in upwards of 100 staged readings over the past three decades.  The theatres he's played include The Biltmore in NYC, Portland Stage Co., Delaware Theatre Co., Indiana Repertory Co., Los Angeles Theatre Center, Arizona Theatre Co., Oregon Shakespeare Festival, LaJolla Playhouse, Mark Taper Forum – New Works Festival, and his home theatre The Los Angeles Repertory Co. where he is not only one of the leading actors but also doubles as the company's Managing Director.

He hasn't completely neglected television and film.  Most recently he starred as Sam Blacker in the independent feature Rogues and was in the feature film Human Highway directed by rock star Neal Young and Dean Stockwell along side Sally Kirkland, Dennis Hopper and Russ Tamblyn. He's also been seen in numerous television programs (Making a Living, Open All Night, The Powers of Mathew Star, etc.) including a recuring stint as Dave Adler, Asa's wisecracking pilot on One Life to Live for ABC.
